          ARTICLE V - DUTIES AND PAY OF OFFICERS

 

Section 1. PRESIDENT. It shall be the duty of the President to preside over all meetings. The President shall appoint all committees and oversee those committees, shall represent the Local at Labor Management meetings, and will be an automatic delegate at all State and National Conventions and Seminars. If an office becomes vacant the President, with concurrence of the executive board, will have the authority to fill that office by appointment. The President shall be allowed $50 monthly, as petty cash, provided all receipts are given to the treasurer. The President shall be paid $720.00 annual compensation, which shall be paid in December of each year.

 

Section 2. VICE-PRESIDENT. It shall be the duty of the Vice-President to perform the duties of the President in his or her absence and may serve as a committee member on all committees. He or she shall act as the Human Relations Representative. The Vice-President shall receive $480.00 annual compensation to be paid in December of each year.

 

Section 3. SECRETARY. The Secretary shall keep a record of the proceedings of all meetings, a record of the membership of the Local and shall be active in recruiting new members and to submit to the National Organization the forms of newly signed member(s). The Secretary shall receive $480.00 annual compensation to be paid in December of each year.

 

Section 4. TREASURER. The Treasurer shall receive and deposit all moneys received into an account under the name of the Great Falls Local of the American Postal Workers Union, AFL-CIO. The President or Vice-President shall countersign all checks issued by the Treasurer or the Assistant Secretary-Treasurer. The Treasurer shall submit the Treasurer's books to the Auditing Committee at the end of his /her term of office. The Treasurer shall be paid $540.00 annual compensation to be paid in December of each year.

 

Section 5. ASSISTANT TO THE SECRETARY AND THE TREASURER. It shall be the duty of the Assistant to the Secretary and the Treasurer to assist in their duties and perform their duties in the absence of Secretary and/or Treasurer. The Assistant to the Secretary and the Treasurer shall receive $480.00 annual compensation to be paid in December of each year.

 

Section 6. Editor. It shall be the duty of the editor to publish The Advocate. The Editor will be reimbursed all expenses incurred publishing said paper provided all receipts are turned over to the Treasurer. The editor will be compensated $40.00 for each issue published payable in December of that year.

 

Section 7. STEWARDS. There may be five (5) Primary Stewards and five (5) Alternate Stewards. There may be three (3) Primary Stewards and three (3) Alternate Stewards, one on each Clerk Tour. There will be one Primary and one Alternate Steward in the Maintenance Craft. There will be one Primary Steward and one Alternate Steward at the Charles M.  Russell Branch/Station. The Stewards shall be appointed by the President and normally hold a term of two (2) years. All Primary Stewards shall receive $480.00 annual compensation, to be paid in December of each year. All Stewards' compensations shall be paid provided that he or she has attended six (6) of ten (10) regular meetings. The Stewards of the Charles M. Russell Branch/Station will also represent the clerk(s) at the Black Eagle Branch/Station.
