Multi-State Update by Chairperson Gary Phillippe
I thought I would take a few minutes and update everyone about the event.
First I want to thank all the State Presidents for helping me with this and getting the word out. We have met our room block so that worry is now a thing of the past. As of Friday the Hotel still had 15 rooms. If we run out I have a couple options so just email or call me. As of today we have well over 100 people attending our event. We have about 12 National Officers plus two from the National Auxiliary.
Our next hurdle is registration. All Locals, MAL’s, or individuals attending must register thru their state organization. Please don't register with me I will just have to send it back. Any information on this can be obtained thru your State President. Contact them to find out when your individual cutoffs are. All of them know what the cutoff is and they will register with the MPWU by that date.
All of the State Presidents are actively participating in all phases of this event. We have not finalized all the training or the agenda for the banquet but we will in the coming weeks. All of the classes will be taught by National Officers and we may have some side classes being taught by our own NW region people.
We have a big hospitality event scheduled for Thursday night at the "Loft" 119 West Main St. Missoula, MT. It is 1 1/2 blocks from the Hotel. We will have an open bar plus plenty of food and not snack food. The menu will come later. Not one penny of your registration money is going into this. We are collecting funds from any State or Local willing to help. We have had a great response so far. In addition two smaller hospitalities will be held at the hotel on Tuesday (during registration) and Wednesday night.
If any Local or State needs anything please ask. I want everyone to know this is your event it is just being held in Montana. We are open to any suggestions and they will be given full consideration.
The Auxiliary has a couple events planned also. They are: collecting stuffed animals for our Share Bear project and we are also collecting items for the Youth Home of Missoula. Some of the items they are in need of are: toilet paper, Kleenex, alarm clocks, toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors (both men and women's), shampoo, conditioner, lotion, movie passes, art supplies, along with school supplies and gifts to like Target, Old Navy, etc. Contact Colette Phillippe at cpauxdc1@aol.com for more details.
We are working hard to make this a great event. I personally want everyone to have a good time. We want you to enjoy "Big Sky Country" and we will do everything we can to make that happen. I will continue to send out these emails as we get closer to the event and am looking forward to meeting the new people and seeing some of my old friends.
